My process, in Webster’s words, is “continuous action or series of changes.” I am not the sole director of the painting, the medium itself often dictates the process. It’s the putting on and the scraping away of colors —taking chances —that makes it exciting for myself and in turn the viewer. Drawing the observer in initially with color then holding them there to discover the textures and depth created by the use of mediums and layers of color; that; is the goal I strive for with each painting. The way one sees is personal & unique to themselves, therefore spending time with the painting he or she is able to make it their own.
Biography
Marge is primarily a self-taught artist and has been showing and selling her work in the Pacific Northwest since 1995. Her use of strong colors in the abstract style draws viewers in for a closer look. She wants them to become involved with the work; find something new with each return visit; see all the lines, marks, & layers that make up the final product. Each individual sees a painting in their own unique way & she feels that is what art should be about! Marge works in several mediums, including acrylic, pastel, & oil. Over the years she has participated in a variety of classes & workshops with both regional & national artists. Major influences in her art development have been Phil Sylvester, William Park, Jeff Rood, Ann Baldwin, & Inga Dubay.
